Pioneers Come Up Short After Scattering Five Versus #11 Lake Erie

CANTON, Ohio – The Malone University men's soccer team dropped their home opener 5-0 to the #11 ranked team in NCAA DII, the Lake Erie College Storm. The teams battled cold and rainy conditions all night striving for victory in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) competition on Thursday evening.

The Pioneers fall to 0-2-0 in the spring season and Lake Erie moves to 2-0-0.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
The Storm struck right away with a goal off of a blocked shot rebound in the sixth minute of play to take a 1-0 advantage.

The next four shots also belonged to Lake Erie, with the latter hitting the back of the net in the 22nd minute.

Antoine Leheron put up his second shot of the half 25 minutes in, but was unable to convert.

The Storm tickled the twine once again a few minutes into the second half, but Colton Fry and Antoine Leheron attempted shots shortly after to try to narrow the deficit.

Lake Erie put two more passed the keeper to make it 5-0 late in the second half. Patrick Alvarez missed high on a shot in the 73rd minute and Lehron forced the keeper to make a save with a shot on goal in the 88th minute.
