GVSU Results | Oiler Results
Canton, Ohio -- The Malone University track & field men and women concluded their competition at Grand Valley State University and Findlay University this weekend. The GVSU BIG Meet ended yesterday, while the Oiler Invite finished today. Only a select few traveled to GVSU. There were some great performances this weekend for the Pioneers.
GVSU BIG MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Mackenna Curtis-Collins won the 3,000 meter run in a school-record breaking time of 9:33.14. This time is not only the school record but also hits a Division II provisional qualifying time for the National Championships. Curtis-Collins currently has the fourth-fastest time out of all Division II athletes in the 3,000 meter race. This is also the third consecutive personal-best race for Mackenna.Â
In the 5,000 meter run, freshmen Mackenzie McCarthy was the first Pioneer to finish, clocking a time of 18:26.93.Â
For the men, Nick Chaplik ran 8:26.48 in the 3,000 meter run. This time was four seconds short of the Division II Provisional qualifying time for the 3,000 meter performance list. Lucas Huber was the first Pioneer to finish the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:35.01.
FINDLAY OILER HIGHLIGHTS
Approaching the ladies first, Rebekah Carr finished fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.08. Azure Curtis had the fastest 200 Meter Dash time for the Pioneers, clocking in a 26.93.Â
Anna Gregg placed third in the 3,000 meter run (10:50.69) and was the first Pioneer to finish. Eline Pinter placed second in the mile run in 5:13.60 and was also the first Pioneer. In the Women's Distance Medley, Malone won with a time of 13:15.88. The team members were Sabrina McClain, Kinsey Knoch, Carolyn Skledar, and Meghan Boggess.
Onto the men, Tellis Horne won the 60-meter dash in 6.89 seconds and placed second in the 200 meter dash in 22.16 seconds. Then, Lucas Clark placed second in the mile with a time of 4:22.48. Noah Harper was the first Pioneer to finish the 800 meter run in a time of 1:59.17. Travis Morgan finished in fourth place in the weight throw with a distance of 17.19m
WHAT'S NEXT?
The men and women will head to Hillsdale University for the Hillsdale Tune-up on the 20th of February.Â
