The Malone University indoor track & field team made the trip to Youngstown on Saturday to compete in Youngstown's State Mid-Major Invite. Numerous Pioneers registered impressive performances in the non-scoring meet which featured NCAA DI, DII, and DIII teams from across the Midwest.

Men's Highlights
Tellis Horne, the fastest sprinter in Malone indoor history, set the meet record in the 200-meter dash, blazing to a first-place finish in 21.59. That mark also broke his own school record by one hundredth of a second, hit an NCAA provisional, and was the 12th-fastest by a DII athlete this season. Horne also placed third in the 60 meters (6.93).

Grant Glover ran 22.82 in the 200 meters, earning the ninth-best time in school history. He also posted the seventh-fastest time in Malone history with in the 400 meters, placing ninth overall in 50.27.

Christopher Cannon finished second in the mile, posting a time of 4:18.91. He just missed cracking Malone's all-time top-10 by just over two seconds.
Zach Fresenko was fourth in the event with a time of 4:24.86. Cannon then placed sixth in the 800 (1:57.41) while
Lucas Clark (1:58.51) was ninth.

Among some of the men's other top performances,
Joshua Easley posted a top-10 time (8.62) in 60 hurdles.
Noah Chaplik ran 8:53.50 to place 14th in the 3,000 meters.
Desmond Sallee posted 7.12 in the 60.
Tate Rhoads ran 22.96 in the 200.
Chris Beemiller recorded a mark 45' 1.75" in shot put and Josh Woika reached 5'8.75" in the high jump

The Malone men's 4x400 relay team of Horne, Sallee,
Isaiah Nicholas, and Glover finished second in 3:22.31.

Women's Highlights
Eline Pinter placed eighth in the mile run, finishing in 5:14.39.
Sabrina McClain ran 5:24.78. McClain (2:25.66) edged out Pinter (2:25.75) in the 800.
Gloria Opoku registered 9.51 in the 60 hurdles, earning a ninth-place finish.
Leah Metzger (10:43.21) also placed ninth in the 3,000 meters while
Julia Westall (10:47.55) was 12th.

Londie Williams-Fields ran 8.00 in the 60 meters and 26.26 in the 200.Â
Azure Curtis clocked in a 62.42 in the 400 meters.
Natalie Crum added a 30' 10.25" toss in the shot put.

The Pioneer women's 4x400 relay team (Pinter,
Elisha Cooper, Curtis, and Williams-Fields) placed fourth in its respective race, crossing the line in 4:06.62.

Members of the Malone track & field team will compete in the Akron Invitational and the Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational next Saturday, February 8th.
