Malone University right-handed pitcher Eric Mullet was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Pitcher of the week following a strong performance in last Friday's 2-1 win over Davenport University (MI).
 
Mullet, a junior from Berlin, Ohio (Hiland HS), pitched a complete game against the Midwest Region opponent, striking out eight in seven innings. He scattered three singles and two walks and gave up a lone run in the top of the second. He earned the decision after Malone scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a walk-off walk.
 
In two starts this season, Mullet is 1-1 with a 3.75 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 12 innings. Last season, Mullet was named Second Team All-Conference and First Team All-Midwest Region after posting a 9-0 record and leading the Region with a 2.14 ERA.
 
The Pioneer baseball team, which plays seven games over the next six days, is off to a 5-3 start through two weekends of action.
