The Malone University volleyball heads out on the road for the first of three straight weeks this Friday and Saturday for a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matches against Ohio Dominican University and Ohio Valley University. The Pioneers come into the week with an 11-8 record, including a 7-3 conference mark – good enough for a first-place tie in the G-MAC East Division Standings.

Malone Notes
  • The Pioneers are coming off of a 0-2 weekend that included a five-set loss at Walsh and a four-set loss at home against NCAA DII #20 Wheeling Jesuit last Saturday. For the first time in a month, Malone did not play on a Tuesday. The two losses last weekend snapped a six-match winning streak.
  • The Malone defense, which has been fantastic all season, continues to lead the G-MAC in blocks and digs and ranks third in the conference in opponents hitting. Malone ranks in the top-20 nationally in blocks and digs.
  • Individually, Mallory Adams leads the team and ranks second in the G-MAC in blocks (1.10 per set) while Hannah Eliason is fifth in the league (1.03 per set).
  • The talented middle hitters also go 1-2 on the team in kills and hitting. Adams is averaging 2.99 kills while attacking at a .308 clip. Eliason averages 2.74 kills per set and owns a .298 attack percentage.
  • Senior outside hitter Veronica Gehring is third on the team in kills (2.46 per set). Gehring is just 16 kills away from the coveted 1,000 career kills milestone. With at least 10 kills in seven straight matches, she is likely to reach the mark sometime this weekend.
  • Senior setter Cathryn Miller, who eclipsed 3,000 career assists, last Saturday is 6th in the G-MAC in assists per set (9.11). Since Malone moved to the 5-1 rotation in late August, Miller is averaging 10.2 assists a frame.
  • Junior outside hitter Faith Lau is coming off a career-high 15-kill performance against Wheeling Jesuit last Saturday, marking her second double-double of the season. Lau has been especially effective in the back row this season where she is averaging 3.08 digs per set – good for second on the team.
  • Malone went 2-0 against Ohio Valley last season, winning both matches in four sets. The Pioneers also picked up a four-set road win at Ohio Dominican. Veronica Gehring led the team in kills in all three matches, posting 3.58 kills per set.

Ohio Valley Notes - Roster | Schedule | Stats
