The Malone University volleyball team will be on the road for the third straight week as it travels to Davis & Elkins College this Friday, October 19th and to Alderson Broaddus University this Saturday, October 20th for a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division matches.
 
With just seven regular season matches left to play, Malone maintains an edge over Lake Erie for one of the top-2 spots in the G-MAC East Standings. The top-2 seeds from each division will host quarterfinal matches in the G-MAC Championships on November 6th. The Pioneers are 9-3 in the G-MAC this season and 13-11 overall.

Malone Notes

• The Pioneers rolled to victories over Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus in mid-September. They'll expect more of the same as they look to bounce back from their first three-match losing streak of the season, which included three sweeps last weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover.
• Against D&E and AB earlier this season, five different Pioneers, Veronica Gehring (19), Hannah Eliason (18), Mallory Adams (16), Faith Lau (15), and Rachel Santos (12), reached double-digits in total kills.
• Adams, who leads the team in kills (2.96 per set) and hitting percentage (.276), also totaled a team-high 10 blocks in the two matches. She leads the G-MAC with 94 blocks on the season while Eliason is 4th in the G-MAC with 85.
• In conference-only matches, setter Cathryn Miller is third in the G-MAC with 461 assists and fourth in assists per set (10.72).
• Libero Maggie Hamrock remains 6th in the G-MAC with 4.66 digs per set.
• Defensive specialist Sydney Black, who finished with 19 digs in the two wins over D&E and AB, leads the team with 23 service aces. Lau, who is second on the team in digs per set (3.01) is also second on the team with 21 aces.
• Collectively, Malone is second in the G-MAC in both blocks and digs and fourth in opponents hitting.
• The Pioneers come into the week 4-3 in true road matches. Since joining the G-MAC in 2016, Malone is 5-0 against Alderson Broaddus and 4-1 against Davis & Elkins.

• The Senators (8-13, 3-9 G-MAC) enter the weekend with three wins in their last four matches. While the D&E attack ranks last in the G-MAC in kills and hitting, the defense is third in the G-MAC in blocks and opponent hitting percentage. The Senators totaled 10 blocks in the loss to Malone last month.
• Outside hitter Kaitlyn LaCour leads the team in kills (2.94 k/s). She had seven kills and 10 digs against Malone earlier this season.

Alderson Broaddus Notes - Roster | Schedule | Stats

• The Battlers (8-16, 2-11 G-MAC) have lost eight straight matches, winning just one set over the stretch. AB ranks last in the league in blocks and digs but is second in service aces.
• Outside hitter Ashlyn McDonald leads the team in kills (3.16 k/s) while defensive specialist Anna Schmidt leads the team in digs (4.18 d/s) and ranks 2nd in the G-MAC with 40 service aces.
