The Malone University indoor track & field teams registered several impressive performances at Grand Valley State University's "Big" Meet on Friday.

Erika Rector provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in the 800 meters after placing 24th with a mark of 2:14.92. The strong showing was just under two seconds off Rector's own school record in the event. Rector set the current Pioneer mark last year with a time of 2:12.94.

Ashton Dulin just missed out on advancing to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore clocked a time of 8.30 seconds which was good for 11th in the preliminaries of the event.

In the women's 5000 meters,
Hannah Thompson placed 20th among 120 competitors with a new personal-best time of 17:48.34. The performance moves Thompson up to ninth on Malone's all-time list in the event.

Other 5000-meter entrants for the Pioneer women included
Jade Smith with a mark of 18:12.75,
Erin Moomaw with a time of 18:25.14,
Rachel Koons with a time of 18:51.13,
Laura Tweedie with a 18:51.65 showing and
Rachel Wentworth with a mark of 20:52.65.

In the men's 5000 meters,
George McCartney took 54th among 183 competitors with a time of 15:05.06. Also competing in the event for Malone was
Brett Cortelletti (15:28.63) and
Noah Whittington (15:52.34).

Lorne Strausbaugh took home 37th in the men's one-mile after crossing the finish line in 4:22.21.
