Track & Field Begins Competition at Spire Midwest Open

Erin Moomaw took first place in her heat and 13th overall in the 5000 meters on Friday evening.

Results

The Malone University men's and women's indoor track & teams took part in day one of the Spire Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio on Friday evening.

The men's distance relay team of Lorne Strausbaugh, Daniel Carmany, Tyler Harroun and George McCartney earned a sixth-place finish among 16 teams with a time of 10:34.79.

Erin Moomaw took first place in her heat and 13th overall in the 5000 meters after registering a mark of 18:52.74.  Rachel Wentworth and Dana Risley also competed in the event, clocking times of 20:02.68 and 20:31.56, respectively.

Brett Cortelletti earned a 12th-place showing among 37 competitors in the men's 5000 meters with a time of 15:30.00.

Malone will continue competition at the Spire Midwest Open on Saturday with a full slate of events.  Live results will be provided at http://www.lightningtiming.com/
