Malone University senior swimmer
Tim Collet has been named as one of six male recipients of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Winter 2015-16 Commissioner's Award.
The Commissioner's Award is presented following the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically.
Collet, a native of Illingen, Germany (Gymnasium am Rotenbuhl), wrapped up his impressive senior season at the GLIAC Championships, finishing fifth in the 200 breaststroke and sixth in the 200 individual medley. He also teamed up with
Hector Gonzalez,
Chris Eckard and Cory Boogart to break the Malone school record during the finals of the 800 freestyle relay.
During his "Senior Day" meet against Saginaw Valley State University, Collet won the 200 butterfly (1:56.47), finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.67) and was a part of the Pioneers' first-place 400 medley relay team (3:29.89).
In addition to setting the 800 freestyle relay mark this past season, Collet concludes his impressive career as the owner of three other Pioneer school records, including the 1000 freestyle, the 200 butterfly, and the 200 breaststroke.
The Business Administration major has excelled in the classroom as well throughout his time at Malone. Collet is a three-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team and boasts a 3.922 cumulative GPA.
Collet is the fourth Pioneer student-athlete to receive the Commissioner's Award since Malone joined the conference in 2012, joining Cory Veldhuizen (basketball), Logan Gray (baseball) and Ryan Roush (cross country).
