Malone Opens Competition At Kent State; Taylor Provisionally Qualifies For Nationals

Day One Results

The Malone University indoor track and field teams had four student-athletes take part in the first day of competition at Kent State University's Golden Flash Gala on Friday afternoon.

Senior Duke Taylor provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in the weight throw after launching an impressive heave of 59' 5.75".

Taylor finished ninth among the 27 competitors in the field.  He just missed out on breaking his own school record in the event, falling less than two inches shy of his 2014 mark of 59' 7.50".
 
Junior Chad Sanner and freshman Clay Wodicka also competed in the weight throw, posting marks of 37' 1.75" and 35' 8.75", respectively.
 
Junior Jaylyn Vance represented the Pioneer women's team in the long jump, placing 11th with a mark of 17' 0.50".
