ResultsThe Malone University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Allegheny College (PA) Gator Invitational in Meadville, Pennsylvania on Friday to wrap up the regular season as numerous Pioneers posted personal bests and one school record was broken.
For the women,
Hannah Boss placed fourth in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.78, which eclipsed her previous PR of 14.86 from earlier this season. Then, in the finals of the event, she blazed to a runner-up finish in yet another PR but also new school-record time of 14.52 seconds, breaking the previous school mark of 14.61 (C. Armsey, 2013). Boss would later pace a three-woman Pioneer contingent in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing eighth in 1:03.41.
In the 800 meters,
Erika Rector finished second in a time of 2:15.32 while
Mackenzie Keller took fourth in 2:18.53. Keller would later finish second in the 1500-meter run Invite in a time of 4:45.60.
In the discus,
Samantha Soeder placed sixth with a toss of 122' 1".
For the men,
Lepear Smith, in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, captured first place in a time of 14.38 seconds.
Among 18 competitors in the discus,
Duke Taylor placed third with a toss of 175' 2" while
Chad Sanner took ninth at 132' 7".
In the pole vault,
Logan Studer tied for fourth, clearing the bar at 15' 3.5", while
Mark Butler tied for seventh at 14' 3.5".
Thomas Elton placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 58.04 seconds.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase,
Dan Price placed sixth in a time of 10:24.59 while in the 5000-meter run Invite,
Luis Carbajal placed eighth in 15:18.32.
Matt Hendrix finished ninth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:54.97.
Malone will next send several student-athletes, those who have posted high enough national provisional qualifying marks, to the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships May 21-23 in Allendale, Michigan.
