ResultsAt the Ashland University Alumni Open on Saturday, the Malone University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had numerous outstanding performances.

For the men,
Duke Taylor was among just seven men to compete in the elite discus invite section and he posted a fifth-place finish with an impressive toss of 173' 7.5", which was just off his personal best of 175' 2" from earlier this season. Today's mark was still easily an NCAA Div. II national provisional qualifying mark.

Lepear Smith took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 14.28 seconds, a personal-best mark for him and one that moved him up a spot into the #2 slot on the school's all-time performer list for the event. In addition, the time was an NCAA Div. II national provisional qualifying time.

Luis Carbajal pocketed a runner-up finish in the 5000 meters in a time of 15:32.72 while
Spencer Ziegler finished 10th in 16:25.68.

Nate Boyer posted a third-place effort in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:56.17.

Eric Barto grabbed a top-ten finish in the 400 meters by placing ninth in a time of 51.07 seconds.

In the pole vault,
Mark Butler took ninth clearing the bar at 14'2" while
Logan Studer finished in a tie for 10th with the same height.Â
Ethan Nichols also posted the same exact height but was 15th overall.

For the women,
Mattison Rankin finished runner-up in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:44.49.

In the 100-meter hurdles,
Hannah Boss took fifth in a time of 14.86 seconds, which was a personal best for her and kept her at the #3 spot on the school's all-time performer list for the event.

Erika Rector tallied a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters in a time of 58.67 seconds, which was a personal best for her and put her in a tie for ninth place on Malone's all-time performer list for the event.

Crystal Barber finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.26 seconds while
Karli Oprian was close behind in sixth in a time of 12.29.Â
Emily Fisher finished ninth in the race in a personal-best time of 12.52 seconds.

Malone went 1-2 in the 200-meter dash and also had two other runners in the top ten, among 39 competitors, as Barber took the individual event title in a time of 25.46 seconds, edging out Fisher who was the runner-up in 25.89. Oprian was seventh in 26.34 while Boss came in ninth in 26.50.

Rachel Koons tallied a third-place finish in the 5000 meters in a time of 18:43.52 while
Madeline Cramer took fifth in 18:52.81 and
Erin Moomaw placed ninth in 19:11.49.

Tayler Carpenter grabbed a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17' 2.25".

Samantha Soeder posted an eighth-place performance in the discus with a mark of 122' 0.25".
Â
Lyndsey Bates finished ninth, among 30 competitors, in the hammer throw with a toss of 162' 4.5".

In the javelin,
Taryn Chapman placed ninth in the javelin with a toss of 99' 1.5".

The Malone teams will next compete in the GLIAC Championships which will be held next Wednesday through Friday (April 29-May 1) in Hillsdale, Michigan.
