Day One StoryA number of Malone University outdoor track & field distance runners concluded their competition in California on Friday as several personal bests were recorded in the process.
For the Malone women, at the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University (CA),
Mackenzie Keller posted a new personal-best time of 4:39.01 in the 1500 meters, which moved her up one spot to #4 on Malone's all-time top-ten performer list for the event. Â She finished 63rd among 167 runners in the race.
Hannah Campbell also posted a PR by recording a time of 17:25.03 in the 5000 meters, edging her previous best of 17:25.87, as she finished 33rd among 138 entrants in the race.
Also competing at the Bryan Clay meet were three Pioneer men who ran the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Scott Whitaker finished 12th among 51 competitors in a time of 9:19.79 while
Gage Black placed 24th in 9:33.76 and
Nick Fresenko came in 44th at 9:55.90.
Just a few hours earlier in the evening, Whitaker ran the 1500 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays and posted a time of 3:55.58, placing 52nd among 71 elite runners.
Late Friday evening,
Jordan McKelley ran the 10,000 meters at the Long Beach State University (CA) Invitational but results were not yet available (they will be added here when available).
In addition, several Malone student-athletes, in the hammer and javelin competitions only, competed at the Walsh University Invitational (hammer/javelin events held at Ashland University) on Friday afternoon and evening. Â Results for these events were not available and will be listed as part of the overall Friday-Saturday Walsh Invitational web story on Saturday evening on Malone's site.
