ResultsThe Malone University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Walsh University Invitational on Saturday as one school record was set, several NCAA Div. II national provisional qualifying marks were tallied and numerous personal bests were tallied.

For the women,
Erika Rector set a school record in the 800 meters as she clocked a time of 2:12.59 to break the five-year-old record of 2:13.70 (A. Avery). Rector's previous personal best from earlier this season, at 2:13.90, had been just .20 seconds off the school record.

From Friday,
Lyndsey Bates edged closer to the hammer throw school record of 171'1" (D. Henderson, 2003) as she recorded a PR toss of 170'10", just three inches shy of the school mark. In addition, her seventh-place toss (among 23 throwers) was an NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying mark.

For the men's squad, in the discus,
Duke Taylor set a personal-best mark of 175' 2", third place in the event (that was held on Friday), which puts him in the third spot on the school's all-time top-ten performer list. The mark was also an NCAA Div. II national provisional qualifying mark.

Also on Friday,
Michael Irwin broke into Malone's all-time top-ten performer list in the javelin by posting a third-place throw of 163'0" (event held on Friday) which places him 10th on the Pioneers' top-ten list.

In women's action, among 16 hurdlers in the 400-meter hurdles, Malone went 1-2 as
Emily Fisher captured the race in 1:02.32 while
Hannah Boss was second in 1:03.90.

Madison Schuler ran a time of 11:24.05 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to win the event.

Among 21 sprinters in the 100-meter dash, Malone went 2-3 as
Karli Oprian placed second in 12.38 seconds while
Crystal Barber was third in 12.49.

Barber led Malone in the 200 meters by finishing second in 25.28 seconds.

Boss led the Pioneers in the 100-meter hurdles by finishing third in a time of 15.25 seconds.

Morgan Kelly paced Malone in the pole vault with a fourth-place effort at 10' 8.25".

Among 25 competitors in the 1500 meters,
Rachel Koons took fourth in 4:52.57.

Erin Moomaw finished sixth in the 5000 meters in a time of 19:16.77.

Emily Luli grabbed a top-ten finish in the 400 meters by placing eighth in a time of 1:01.48.

Kelsey Veldhuizen finished ninth in the javelin (Friday) in 85' 6.75".

Tayler Carpenter recorded a top-ten finish in the long jump with a 10th-place finish in 16' 8.75".

In the final women's event of the day, the 4x400-meter relay unit of Boss,
Taryn Chapman, Rector and Fisher won the race in a time of 3:52.92, which was less than one second off the school record of 3:52.19 set in 2014 (by Boss, Barber, Rector, Fisher).

In men's action,
Lavell Morgan took third in the high jump in 6' 6.75" which was a PR for him and moved him into the ninth spot (tied) on the school's all-time performer list.

Lepear Smith captured the 110-meter hurdles in 15.02 seconds.

Among 40 competitors in the 1500 meters,
Brandon Simmons led the team with a seventh-place finish in a time of 4:05.98.

Nate Boyer paced the team in the 3000-meter steeplechase by finishing second in a time of 10:13.01.

In the 400-meter hurdles,
Matt Shoup took third in a time of 55.70 seconds.

Mark Butler finished fourth in the pole vault with a 14' 8.25" effort.

In the long jump,
Cameron Mack finished in fifth place with a leap of 20' 4.5"

Tim Makowski finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 47' 7.25".

In the 400 meters, among 16 entrants,
Matt Hendrix led the Pioneer competitors by finishing sixth in 50.64 seconds.

In the final race of the day, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Thomas Elton,
Marc Megenhardt,
Eric Barto and Shoup finished third in a time of 3:27.13.

The Malone teams will next compete at the Ashland University Alumni Meet April 24-25.
