The Malone University baseball team suffered losses of 1-0 and 6-4 on Saturday in its home doubleheader against Tiffin University.

Malone fell to 13-16 overall and 8-6 in the GLIAC following Saturday's games while the Dragons improved to 8-20 overall and 7-4 in conference games.

The two squads will wrap up their three-game weekend series on Sunday with a nine-inning game starting at 12:00 p.m.

Game One Recap
Tiffin scored the game's only run in the top of the sixth inning.  The Dragons' Kyle Lento led off the frame, reaching second base with a double when a fly ball was lost in the sun.  Lento then later crossed the plate on a two-out fielding error.

The Pioneers put runners in scoring position in both the bottom of the sixth and bottom of the seventh, but Tiffin starting pitcher Logan Sendelbach worked out of trouble each time to preserve the narrow win.  Sendelbach went the distance on the mound, earning his first win of the season (1-6) after scattering four hits and striking out six over his seven innings of work.
Malone starter Taylore Baker nearly matched Sendelbach's effort, holding Tiffin to the one unearned run on six hits over six innings pitched.

First baseman Logan Gray tallied two of the Pioneers' hits, lining a single to right in the first inning before ripping a double to right in the sixth.

Game Two Recap
The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the finale before the Dragons stormed back, scoring all six of their runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Malone plated three runs in the second inning with a two-run single off the bat of second baseman Tyler Eagon and an RBI single from centerfielder Austin Pachan.

An errant pick-off attempt then allowed Gray to cross the plate with the Pioneers' fourth run in the bottom of the third.

Tiffin batted around in the fourth, using five base hits, a pair of walks and a Malone error to grab the 6-4 advantage.

Malone was then unable to manufacture any additional runs the rest of the way against Dragon reliever Tyler Nichols.  Nichols tossed the final 5.1 innings, earning the win (1-0) after giving up one unearned run on two hits.

Pioneer third baseman Jon Crank went 3-for-3 in game two with a double and a pair of singles.
