Women's Tennis Drops 7-2 Contest At Davis & Elkins, Defeats Alderson Broaddus 6-3

Asia Harris collected four wins (two singles, two doubles) in Malone's two matches in West Virginia Monday.

The Malone University women's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches in West Virginia on Monday, losing at Davis & Elkins College 7-2 in their first match but bouncing back to defeat Alderson Broaddus University 6-3 in the final contest of the day.

In the Davis & Elkins match, Asia Harris posted a victory at #1 singles by the score of 7-5, 6-1 and then combined with teammate Anna Musiyenko at #1 doubles to pocket the team's other victory in the match with an 8-6 win.

Ana Hernandez, playing at #3 singles, made a strong comeback in the second set of her match but lost 6-0, 7-6.   In doubles, Hernandez and teammate Krista Leonard, competing at #3, battled well but lost the contest by the score of 8-5.

In the Alderson Broaddus match, the Pioneers won all their matches in straight sets, the most convincing being Harris' 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles and the #1 doubles (Harris and Musiyenko) victory at 8-0.  

Other winners for Malone against Alderson Broaddus were Musiyenko, at #2 singles, 6-2, 6-0, Janelle Linder, at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-3, Chrissy Cameron, at #6 singles, 8-3, and the #3 doubles team of Hernandez and Leonard at 8-3.

With the 1-1 record on the day, the Pioneers finished the season with an overall record of 5-18 (1-13 in the GLIAC).
