Women's Tennis Earns First GLIAC Win Of Season With 7-2 Home Victory Over Lake Erie

Senior Janelle Linder (above) teamed with Chris Miller at #2 doubles and collected an 8-2 victory over their Lake Erie foes on Saturday as the Pioneers won the match by the score of 7-2.

Playing in its final home match of the fall season, the Malone University women's tennis team collected a 7-2 victory over visiting Lake Erie College to earn the squad's first conference victory of the season.  With the win, the Pioneers improved to 2-8 overall and to 1-7 in GLIAC play while the Storm dropped to 0-8 overall and to 0-8 in the GLIAC.

Malone earned five of its match wins in singles and two in doubles play.  Singles winners included Asia Harris (#1), Kaley Kahoun (#2), Ana Hernandez (#4), Chrissy Cameron (#5) and Krista Leonard (#6).  In doubles, Janelle Linder and Christine Miller teamed for a victory at #2 doubles while Leonard, the only double-winner on the day, partnered with Alexis Hill for a win at #3 doubles.

Malone will start a long string of away matches to finish out the fall regular season by competing at Ashland University next Friday (Oct. 4) in a 3:00 p.m. match.
