The Malone University baseball team swept both games of its Senior Day doubleheader against the University of Findlay on Saturday at Thurman Munson Stadium, taking game one 9-5 before registering a walk-off, 7-6 triumph in the finale.

The Pioneers improved to 21-26 overall and 14-18 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference following the pair of wins while the Oilers slipped to 19-25 overall and 12-18 in conference play.

The two squads will wrap-up their three-game weekend series with Bob Starcher Memorial Day on Sunday.  Malone will honor the program's former long-time baseball coach with a ceremony starting at approximately 12:45 p.m.  The first pitch of the single, nine-inning game will follow at 1:00 p.m.

Game One Recap
The Pioneers charged out to an 8-0 lead after the first three innings of the opener, scoring two runs in the first, two runs in the second and four runs in the third.

The Oilers got on the scoreboard with three runs in the top of the fourth and then added two unearned runs in the sixth, but it was not enough to overcome the sizable early deficit.

Senior left-handed pitcher Alex Haines went the distance on the mound for Malone, surrendering five runs (only two earned) on nine hits over his seven innings pitched.  The southpaw struck out four and walked just one to improve his record to 3-3 on the season.

Malone racked up 12 hits in the game, led by second baseman Tyler Eagon, who went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, two RBI's and one run scored.  Catcher Hayden Mobley tallied two hits in three at-bats, ripping a lead-off single in the second and a two-run single in the third.  Senior Bob Suitca also notched two hits to go with an RBI groundout in the first.

Game Two Recap
Findlay jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the top of the first inning of game two.  An RBI double by rightfielder Michael Chack and a two-out, two-run double off the wall in right by Suitca put Malone in front 3-2 in the bottom of the third.

The Oilers quickly answered back, pulling ahead 6-3 with a four-run fourth inning.  Malone then took advantage of a walk and three Findlay errors in the bottom of the fourth, scoring twice to cut the margin to 6-5.

Malone would then knot the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the fifth as first baseman Jon Crank raced home from third on a RBI groundout by leftfielder Keanan Locke.

The Pioneers then scored the winning run in dramatic fashion with a two-out rally in the seventh.  After the first two hitters of the frame were retired on fly outs, Suitca got things started with his fourth hit of the game - a line drive single back up the middle.  Designated hitter Logan Gray and Locke each drew walks to load the bases.  Mobley then stepped to the plate and, after working the count to 2-2, was hit by a pitch to bring home Suitca from third with the go-ahead score.

Right-handed pitcher Taylore Baker entered the game in the fifth and tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn his fifth victory of the year (5-1).  Baker surrendered just two hits while striking out four.

Senior Jesse Coblentz go the start on the mound and tossed the first four innings.

Suitca accounted for four of Malone's six hits in the contest, tallying three singles to go with his third-inning double.  In all, the senior went 6-for-8 on the day with three runs batted in.
