Women's Tennis Defeats Geneva 5-0, Loses To Roberts Wesleyan 5-4 In NCCAA East Regional Matches

Freshman Asia Harris won all four of her matches on the day, at #1 singles and at #3 doubles (teaming with Marie Konstan).

In NCCAA East Regional competition on Friday at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Malone University women's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Geneva College (PA) but lost its second match in a close 5-4 decision against Roberts Wesleyan College (NY). 

In the three-team round-robin event, Roberts Wesleyan posted a 2-0 record (and earned the automatic berth to the NCCAA National Tournament) while Malone finished at 1-1 and Geneva at 0-2 for the region event.

With the 1-1 record on the day, Malone finished its season with a 15-15 overall record (2-12 GLIAC).

Against Geneva, in doubles matches, the #1 unit of Kim Knisley and Janelle Linder earned a win as did #2 Erika Lester and Kaley Kahoun along with #3 Asia Harris and Marie Konstan.

In singles, Harris, at #1, and Knisley, at #3, notched victories while the other four singles contests went unfinished since Malone's victory had been decided.

In the Roberts Wesleyan match, RWC took the early lead by winning two of the three doubles match (at #1 and #2) as Harris and Konstan, at #3, earned the doubles win for the Pioneers.

In singles, Harris (#1), Lester (#2) and Konston (#6) picked up the wins.  The one additional needed win for the Pioneers didn't come but Kaley Kahoun's battle at #5 came in a close 6-3, 7-6 loss.
