Women's Tennis Earns Opening-Match Victory At Hilton Head Over Alvernia 8-1

Freshman Asia Harris, playing at # 1 singles, posted a solid 6-1, 6-3 win as Malone took the match over Alvernia University (PA) by a score of 8-1.

The Malone University women's tennis team, competing in its first match of the 2013 spring season, defeated Alvernia University (PA) by the score of 8-1 on Monday in the Pioneers' opening contest of a six-match slate at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. With the win, Malone improved to 8-13 for the 2012-13 year while Alvernia dropped to 4-2 overall.

Asia Harris (#1), Erika Lester (#2), Kim Knisley(#3) and Marie Konstan (#6) each earned straight-set singles victories while Kaley Kahoun (#4) and Janelle Linder (#5) won in three sets.

Konstan teamed with Harris for a #3 doubles win while K. Kahoun and Linder tallied a victory at #2 doubles.

After competing in one other match later today (Monday) vs. Eastern (PA), the Pioneers will play in one contest on Tuesday -- vs. Trine (IN) at 9:30 a.m.
