Women's Tennis Loses At Cedarville By Score Of 8-1

Sophomore Asia Harris collected the Pioneers' only win against the Yellow Jackets as she posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles.

Match Results

In a match that was much closer than the score indicated, the Malone University women's tennis team lost an 8-1 decision in a non-conference contest at Cedarville University on Tuesday.

With the loss, Malone fell to 2-12 overall (remaining at 1-10 in the GLIAC) while the Yellow Jackets improved to 6-3.

Although numerous matches went right down to the wire, the Pioneers' Asia Harris was the only member of her squad to notch a victory on the night as she earned a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles.

Three other singles matches all came down to the decisive third-set supertiebreaker as Janelle Linder, at #3, Krista Leonard, at #5, and Christine Miller, at #6, all suffered 1-0 losses in the third set after splitting the first two sets with their respective opponents.

In doubles, Ana Hernandez and Leonard battled extremely well at #3 but fell just short in an 8-6 loss.

Malone will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 11) when the squad travels to Wayne State University (MI) for a 3:00 p.m. GLIAC contest.
