Stacy Messner Scores Only Goal In U.S. Deaf Women's Soccer Team's 1-0 Gold Medal Win Over Russia

The U.S. Deaf Women's Soccer Team celebrates its gold medal during the medal ceromonies of the 2012 World Deaf Football Championships in Ankara, Turkey in late July.

The United States Deaf Women's Soccer Team earned a 1-0 victory over Russia in the gold medal game of the 2012 World Deaf Football Championships in Ankara, Turkey on July 21st. Stacy Messner, of Green, Ohio, and a Malone alum and former member of the Pioneer women's soccer team, not only earned a spot on the U.S. Deaf team but also scored the winning, and only, goal in the United States' 1-0 victory over Russia in the above-mentioned gold medal game.
