The Malone University baseball team wil host the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) East Region Tournament at Thurman Munson Stadium this Thursday through Saturday (May 10-12). In addition to Malone, the three-team event will also include Houghton (NY) College and Nyack (NY) College. The winner of the NCCAA East Region Tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCCAA World Series, slated to be held May 16-19 at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
Day one of the regional will consist of three pool-play contests. Malone and Houghton will square off in the opener at 12:00 p.m. A match-up between Nyack and Houghton will follow at approximately 2:30 p.m. Nyack and Malone will then wrap up the first day of competition with a 5:00 p.m. contest.
The results from Thursday's pool-play games will then determine the seeding for day two of the tournament (if all three teams have one loss, seeding will be determined by the fewest runs allowed). Seeds two and three will play an elimination game on Friday at 10:00 a.m. The winner of the elimination game will then face the No. 1 seed in a 1:00 p.m. championship contest.
Should the No.1 seed lose the first championship contest on Friday, a second and decisive championship game would be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
