The Malone University baseball team has been designated as the No. 6 seed for this week's NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) World Series that is set to be held May 16-19 at Prasco Park and Legacy Field in Mason, Ohio. The Pioneers enter the ten-team tournament with a 31-21 overall record, having qualified for the event by winning the NCCAA East Region Title.

This year, the tournament features a pool-play format with two pools consisting of five teams apiece. The top two teams from each pool will then move on to the tournament's single-elimination semifinals on Friday evening.  The NCCAA National Championship Game is slated for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The Pioneers will take on No. 3 seed and defending NCCAA National Champion Oklahoma Wesleyan University (38-23) on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the first of their four pool-play contests. Malone will then conclude its challenging Wednesday schedule with an 8:00 p.m. contest against second-seeded California Baptist University (38-12).   The Pioneers will square off with No. 7 seed Bluefield (VA) College (30-27) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday before wrapping up pool play on Friday with a 1:00 p.m. match-up against 10th-seeded Mid-Continent (KY) University (25-35).

The other pool features No. 1 Cedarville University (36-11), No. 4 Olivet Nazarene (IL) University (33-16-1), No. 5 Southeastern (FL) University (31-26), No. 8 Emmanuel (GA) College (31-25), and No. 9 Nyack (NY) College (25-25).

Malone will be making its sixth trip to the NCCAA World Series in the last seven years and ninth appearance overall. The Pioneers captured the NCCAA National Title in 2006.
