Women's Tennis Suffers 9-0 Home Loss To Wayne State

Junior Marie Konstan, at #5 singles, lost to her opponent 6-3, 6-2 in Malone's 9-0 loss to Wayne State (MI) Friday. The five game wins by Konstan, which was matched by teammate Kim Knisley (#1 singles), was the most by a Malone individual on the day against the 21-3 Warriors.

Although the Malone University women's tennis team had posted three 9-0 victories themselves during the 2011-12 year, the squad had not suffered a 9-0 loss this year until Wayne State (MI) University blanked the Pioneers in a home match at the Harvard Courts in Canton on Friday. With the loss, Malone fell to 7-9 overall while Wayne State improved to an impressive 21-3 on the year.

Despite the visitors winning in straight sets in all their matches, the Pioneers' Kim Knisley, playing at #1 singles, and Marie Konstan, at #5 singles, each tallied five game wins as they both lost to their opponent by the identical 6-3, 6-2 score.
