Playing in its opening match of the 2012 spring season, the Malone University women's tennis team lost an 8-1 contest at Oberlin College on Saturday. With the loss, and coupled with the squad's 1-1 record in the fall, the Pioneers now stand at 1-2 overall for the 2011-12 academic year. Oberlin improved to 3-1 on the year with its third straight victory.
With every other match on the day going against the Pioneers in straight sets,
Marie Konstan, playing at #6 singles, provided the bright spot for the team as she won in three sets. After dropping the first set 6-1, Konstan battled back to take the second set at 6-3 before winning the third set in a super tiebreaker at 10-7.
