The Malone University women's tennis team lost an 8-1 home contest to Wayne State University (MI) on Friday afternoon. At the Green Tennis Club in Green, Ohio, the visitors swept the singles matches in straight sets en route to the victory but the host Pioneers earned a hard fought win at #3 doubles.
With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 6-12 overall and to 1-11 in the GLIAC while the Warriors improved to 11-1 overall and to 11-1 in GLIAC play.
The outstanding and grueling 9-1 victory at #3 doubles was posted by
Marie Konstan and
Asia Harris and came in dramatic fashion. Late in the match, Konstan was hit in the eye with a very hard shot but somehow managed to continue playing the final number of points to enable the duo to post the lone Malone win in the contest.
