Pioneer Women's Tennis Earns First Victory Of Season With 9-0 Win Over Eastern (PA) In Hilton Head

Alanna Phillips posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at #1 singles and teamed with Kim Kinsley at #1 doubles for an 8-4 victory as Malone collected its first win of the 2011 season in a 9-0 victory over Eastern (PA) University.


The Malone University women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the 2011 season on Monday by defeating Eastern (PA) University 9-0 during the squad's spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  With the win, Malone improved to 1-3 on the year while Eastern dropped to 1-1.

Alanna Phillips, at #1 singles, paced Malone with a 6-4, 6-2 win over her opponent while Phillips and Kim Knisley teamed at #1 doubles to pocket an 8-4 win.  All six of the Pioneers' singles victories were in straight sets and, other than Phillips' 6-4 set, no Malone singles player lost more than two games in any set for the match.
