Box Score

The Malone University women's soccer team endured a hard-fought 1-0 defeat on Tuesday afternoon in a home match against Notre Dame College.  The lone goal of the afternoon came in the 15th minute of play when Falcon defender Jayonda Pullens lofted a long pass over the Malone defense.  Forward Katie Christensen gathered in the ball and after a few quick strides, fired a shot to the far post.  The ball deflected off the hands of Pioneer keeper Angie Nutial and into the net, giving NDC the early advantage.  The Falcons then held Malone off the scoreboard the rest of the way en route to their fifth shutout win of the year.  The Pioneers' record slipped to 1-8 overall as Malone fell by a 1-0 final score for the fifth time this season.  Notre Dame, meanwhile, improved its overall mark to 7-2.

The Pioneers just missed pulling ahead in the opening minutes of the match when a shot by forward Ally Smith deflected off the far post.  Malone also had several scoring opportunities in final stanza but was unable to find the back of the net.

The Falcons held a 20-12 advantage in total shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal over the course of the afternoon.

Nutial registered seven saves while NDC keeper Kristy Kolschetzky stopped all five shots she faced for her fifth shutout victory.

Malone will look to bounce back on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Hiram College (3-5-1 overall).
