Final Results
The Malone University men's golf team finished in 10th place among a 16-team field at the University of Dayton Flyer Invitational on Tuesday. At the par-71 NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, the Pioneers tallied a two-day score of 615 (312-303) as IUPUI took the team title with a 585 (293-292) total.
IUPUI won the team championship by virtue of a victory in a one-hole playoff. Dayton, which also posted a score of 585 (294-291), finished as the runner-up. Ohio University took third at 590 (303-287), the University of Evansville (IN) placed fourth at 593 (301-292) and the University of Akron rounded out the top five at 595 (301-294).
For Malone,
Richie Schembechler led the charge, tying for 11th overall among 95 golfers, with a two-day score of 147 (73-74).
Tyler Light was close behind at 152 (80-72),
Steve Robison fired a 154 (78-76),
Ryan Headley carded a 162 (81-81) and
Jay Hollifield posted a 168 (87-81).
Malone will conclude its fall campaign by participating in the NCCAA National Championships at the Hombre Golf Course in Panama City, Florida October 24-26.
