Box Score
The Malone University women's soccer team posted its second consecutive shutout victory on Thursday night with a 3-0 triumph at NCAA Division III Franciscan University. The Pioneers pulled away quickly, scoring all three of their goals within the first 21 minutes of the match. The non-conference win improved Malone's overall record to 5-4-0 while the Barons dropped to 2-5-1.
Midfielder
Sarah Heckman played a part in Malone's first two scores as she assisted forward
Cassy Daniels on the Pioneers' first goal in the seventh minute of play and then netted an unassisted goal of her own 11 minutes later. Midfielder
Katie Heckman (Sarah's sister) then pushed the margin to 3-0 in the 21st minute with her second score of the season.
These three scores were more than enough for the Malone defense as keepers
Angie Nutial and
Ashley Kuhn combined to stop all four of Franciscan's shots on goal.
The Pioneers will be idle over the weekend and will return to action on Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. American Mideast Conference match at local rival Walsh University.
