Box Score
The Malone University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match at home on Saturday afternoon to Indiana Wesleyan University by a final score of 2-0. The Wildcats, ranked 10th in the most recent NAIA National Poll, scored off a corner kick seven minutes into the second half to break a scoreless tie. IWU then tacked on an insurance goal a little over 20 minutes later to put the match away. The Pioneers fell to 3-4-0 overall with the defeat while the Wildcats improved to 6-2-0.
Indiana Wesleyan controlled possession of the ball for much of the afternoon, limiting the Pioneers to just two shots, neither of which were on goal. Despite the lack of scoring chances, Malone still played tough defense throughout the contest as Pioneer keeper
Angie Nutial made seven saves.
Malone will look to bounce back on Tuesday evening as the squad returns to American Mideast Conference play with a 5:00 p.m. match at Point Park (PA) University (1-4 overall, 0-1 AMC).
