Houghton Blanks Malone, 3-0

The Pioneers were unable to break through against the Highlander defense

The Malone University women's soccer team fell 3-0 at home on Saturday afternoon in an American Mideast Conference match against Houghton (NY) College. The Highlanders held a 2-0 halftime advantage and then tacked on an insurance goal midway through the second frame to secure the victory. The Pioneers dropped to 6-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the AMC with the shutout loss while Houghton improved to 9-4-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference.

The Highlanders got on the scoreboard in the 34th minute of play on a goal by Erin Miller. Kaylin Bull then made it 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the opening period after finding the back of the net off a pass from Carolynn Tomlinson. Bull struck again in the 65th minute, concluding the afternoon's scoring with her second goal of the match.

Houghton held a 5-2 advantage in total shots on goal over the course of the afternoon.

Malone will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Pepper Pike, Ohio for 3:30 p.m. AMC contest against Ursuline College.
