CHARLESTON, W.V. - The Malone University women's golf team placed eighth of 13 teams on day one of the University of Charleston Invitational at Edgewood Country Club. The Pioneers played 36 holes and posted a total score of 650 on the first day of competition. The hosts, Charleston, are in first place with a total score of 598. 
 

Caylee Lattimer led the Pioneers in her first collegiate round. Lattimer shot a 76 in round one and a 77 in round two. Jorja Ary also notched her first collegiate rounds with a 81 and a 83. Kaylyn Henson followed close behind and shot a 82 and a 85 for the Pioneers. Lattimer notched birdies on the 11th and 17th holes for the Pioneers. 
 

Brielle Starnes scored a 81 and a 87 in her first two collegiate rounds. Addison Burris shot an 80 and then a 88 for Malone. Starnes added two birdies in her debut and Burris had one birdie. 
 

The Pioneers return to Edgewood Country Club for the final day of the University of Charleston Invitational. Malone will tee off on Thursday, September 10 for 18 holes on the final day of competition.
