Dragons Defeat Pioneers 2-0

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Malone University men's soccer team lost on the road to the Tiffin University Dragons 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers are now 1-3-0 in the season as the Dragons improve to 3-1-2. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone falls to 0-2-0 while Tiffin stays undefeated at 2-0-0.

The first half started rough for the Pioneers as Tiffin scored the first goal of the match at 3:50 to give them an early lead. Malone was looking to strike back later in the 28th minute with a shot by James Bolton, but the Dragon's goalkeeper was there to stop it. The Pioneers' defense was on its toes as Tiffin recorded 14 shots before halftime.

The second half was not much different for Malone as the Dragon's offense stayed on the offensive. The Pioneers suffered a red card at the 77th minute, and Tiffin managed to score another goal at 85:31 to put the game away. Julius Eckmann took a last-effort shot during the final minute of the match, but was unsuccessful.

Goalkeeper Sam Cipriano (0-2-0) finished the first half recording an impressive 87.5% (7-for-8) save percentage. Roman Sigafoos stepped in at goal during the second half and recorded an 80% (4-for-5) save rate. Ryan Ziskowski, Camden Albertson, Eckmann, Alexander Castro Morales, Charlie Noovao-Martin, Drew Kapsak, and Valentino Makhubele stayed on the pitch for the full 90.
