CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University men's soccer team lost to the Thomas More University Saints 2-1 on a cool Thursday night. The Pioneers are now 1-2-0 on the year, while the Saints improve to 3-2-0. In the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Malone starts conference play at 0-1-0, and Thomas More begins at 1-0-0.
The first half started off fast for the Pioneers as
Christopher Onye had a shot within the first 40 seconds of the match, but it was shut down by the Saints' goalkeeper. Both teams kept the pressure on throughout the half, until Thomas More came up with a goal in the 37th minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead over Malone going into halftime.
The Saints took control in the second half with an early goal in the 56th minute for a 2-0 lead over the Pioneers. Malone struggled to get on the board until 88:47, when Onye buried a penalty kicked low left to put the Pioneers down only 2-1 towards the end. Malone's short-term momentum was not enough as Thomas More took a 2-1 victory at the final whistle.

both finished the night with two saves and one goal allowed.
Ryan Ziskowski, Camden Albertson, Drew Kapsak, and
Valentino Makhubele stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
The Pioneers will look to continue their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play as they travel to the Tiffin University Dragons on Saturday, September 12. Kick-off time is at 1:00 P.M.
