CANTON, Ohio - The Malone University women's lacrosse team is coming off their best season in program history at 11-5 and their second consecutive postseason appearance. They look ahead to 2027 under the direction of fourth-year head coach Michael Jewell. The Pioneers will be welcoming seven new members to the team for the upcoming season.
 
Ella Childers makes her way to Malone from Sylvania, Ohio and Sylvania Southview High School. The defender won three varsity letters for the Cougars and was twice selected as Second Team All-Northern Lakes League (NLL). She received the Defensive Player of the Year Award for her team in 2025 and MVP award in 2026. Childers will major in sport management upon arriving on campus.
 
Jorja Crabtree is an incoming freshman who was a midfielder at Kent Roosevelt High School. She won three MVP awards and was a two-time Suburban League First Team recipient. Crabtree twice was an All-American Award nominee and was selected as the Suburban League Athlete of the Month. She was first in the state in groundballs for two consecutive seasons as well as a four-time varsity letterwinner. Academically, Crabtree was a scholar athlete in all four high school seasons and a member of National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She will study business management.
 
Grace Hinkle comes to Malone as a midfielder from Willowick, Ohio and Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. She is a transfer from Mars Hill University where she appeared in 12 games with four goals and seven assists as a freshman. Prior to her collegiate career, she was a four-time All-Conference honoree, with three First Team nods across the Crown Conference and North Coast Conference. Hinkle was Offensive MVP in the NCC in 2025. She was twice All-Region Second Team by the Ohio High School Girls' Lacrosse Association (OHSGLA) and received several all-star designations from the News Herald in the Greater Cleveland area. She had a 4.0 grade point average and will study entrepreneurship and sport management with a minor in coaching.
 
Kaylee Kommer comes from San Antonio, Texas and Pieper High School. The defender enters the Buckeye State after being named All-District three times in her career and once All-State. She led the Warriors to a Central Texas District title in 2023, a San Antonio District championship in 2024 and her team was D3 runners-up in 2025 and 2026. Kommer was a member of her school's National Honor Society and honor roll and will study exercise science at Malone.
 
Karlyn Magnus is an incoming freshman attack from Lake High School in Uniontown, Ohio. She won four varsity letters with the Blue Streaks and tallied 43 goals, 23 assists, 41 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in 62 games (57 starts). In the classroom, Magnus was a member of National Honor Society and intends to major in Biology/Pre-Med at Malone.
 
Zoe Schneider is a transfer goalie from Chowan University and is originally from Culpeper County High School in Virginia. She competed on the cross country team as a freshman at Chowan where she was named Athlete of the Week in the Conference Carolinas on October 20. On the lacrosse field for her high school team, Schneider holds the school records for goals allowed as well as saves in a game, season and career. She was named to the All-District and All-Region teams with the Blue Devils. Schneider led Culpeper County to a school record 13 wins and a second-place finish in Class 4 Region B. Academically, she was a member of her high school National Honor Society, inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, was named to the Dean's List and Presidential Honor Roll in Sport Management.
 
Ryleigh Vlcek joins the Pioneers as an attack from Brunswick High School. She won four varsity letters in lacrosse with the Blue Devils. Vlcek was tabbed as an All-League student-athlete in the Greater Cleveland Conference (GCC) as well as the Northern Ohio Lacrosse League (NOLL). She was an All-Region Honorable Mention and four-time varsity letterwinner in total. Vlcek intends to study education and minor in coaching at Malone.
