Track & Field Impresses on Day Two of Conference Championships

HILLSDALE, Mich. - On day two of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet, the Malone University track & field squad placed nine in event finals while recording points in four different event finals. Tiffin University closed the day on top of the men's standings and the hosts of Hillsdale College are in the lead in the women's standings.
 
The Pioneers recorded a pair of seventh-place finishes in the men's and women's shot put. Gavin Tribelo improved upon his personal best and third-best mark in program history in the event with a throw of 15.78 meters (51' 9.25"). Isabelle Perry made a leap to third in program history as well with a toss of 12.66 meters (41' 6.50"). Yahya Jawadi (seventh) and Jenna Cassidy (eighth) scored points for the team in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Jawadi finished in 9:29.61 and Cassidy a mark of 11:29.37.
 
Phil Stupka qualified for the event finals in the 100-meter dash prelims (10.83 seconds) and 200-meter dash prelims (21.71 seconds) by way of winning his heat in each. A preliminary race win was also credited to Allea Graves (55.67 seconds) to secure a spot in the 400-meter dash event finals on Friday. Xander Heil (4:00.48) and Caden LaRue (4:02.49) were 1-2 in their heat of the 1500-meter run prelims to qualify for the event finals.
 
There were four times that were good enough to make event finals with at-large selections. Brylan Holland and Tyler Twining each made the 800-meter run finals at 1:53.37 and 1:53.87. In the 1500-meter run, Kristin Yeager made the cut with a time of 4:53.51. Rebekah Stoneman will also compete for a conference championship on Friday in the 400-meter hurdle finals after she put up a time of 1:06.44 and snuck into the tenth spot on the program's top times.
 
The third and final day of action at the G-MAC Championships will take place on Friday, May 1 beginning at 11:30 A.M.
