BEREA, Ohio - At the Sparky Adams Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace University, the Malone University track & field programs had several top finishes. The Pioneer men were fourth overall and women seventh. The host Yellow Jackets were atop the men's standings and the University of Akron claimed the women's team championship.

Malone's women were led by
Allea Graves with a victory in the 200-meter run (25.06 seconds) and a second-place finish in the 400-meter run (55.79 seconds).
Amber Morris was fourth in the shorter of those events at 26.20 seconds to score points for the team. Graves and Morris joined
Abigail Blaz and
SaRae Johnson on the 4x100-meter relay team that finished third (48.90 seconds).

Other top finishes for the Pioneer women included
Rebekah Stoneman with a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.42),
Jenna Cassidy with a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:53.83) and
Isabelle Perry with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (11.84 meters / 38' 10.25").

On the men's side of the scoring, Malone had a pair of throwers that moved up the program's top-ten list.
Gavin Tribelo climbed to number three all-time in the shot put. He was fourth at the event with a best score of 15.71 meters (51' 6.50").
Obed West added his name to the top-ten list in the hammer throw with a best toss of 48.16 meters (158' 0.00"). That placed him sixth overall at the event and is good for eighth in the history of Malone track & field.

The Pioneers dominated the 5000-meter run.
Xander Heil was victorious at 14:50.54 while
Hayden Schmidt (14:58.49) was second and
Yahya Jawadi (15:15.65) was fifth.
Otani Ekpe was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdle preliminary race with a time of 15.13 seconds.
Caden McClure was third overall in the pole vault at 4.57 meters (15' 0.00"). Fourth-place marks were credited to
Wyatt Royster in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:39.85) and
Brylan Holland in the 800-meter run (1:56.49).
Phil Stupka was top-five in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69 seconds.

The final tune-up before the post-season will be the Mount Union Classic on Thursday, April 23.
