SARASOTA, Fla. - The Malone University women's lacrosse team won their third consecutive game with a 17-8 triumph against New College of Florida on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers enter Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play with a record of 6-1. New College falls to 2-5 following the loss.

A 4-1 difference in scoring in the first quarter propelled the Pioneers to an early lead.
Cam English recorded a pair of goals in the period. Malone was dominant in the second period and claimed a 13-3 advantage at halftime.
Abbey Burns and
Ashtyn Praeter had three goals each in the second quarter and
Emma Weintz found the back of the net with just two seconds on the clock to send the team into the break with momentum.

The Mighty Banyans cut into the Pioneer lead slightly in quarter number three, but the lead was big enough that the result was not in jeopardy. A man-up goal by Praeter made it 14-6 Malone with 15 minutes left to play.
Olivia Marcantonio added her name to the list of scorers in the closing minutes of the 17-8 win.

The Pioneers were efficient with their shot accuracy as 25 of their 28 attempts were on goal. Malone had just five turnovers compared to ten for New College. English (five goals, two assists), Burns (three goals, four assists) and Praeter (six goals, one assist) had seven points apiece to lead the team. Weintz had a team-high five draw controls. Goalie
