ASHLAND, Ohio - The Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championships kicked off on Friday at Ashland University with several preliminary events and a few event finals in field, distance and relay events.

Senior
Phil Stupka qualified for both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash event finals on Saturday. He was second in the 60 with a time of 6.79 seconds and set a new personal record and school record time of 21.52 seconds in the 200. He had previously shared the record with Tellis Horne.

Sophomore
Allea Graves broke her own school record in the midst of qualifying for the 400-meter dash. Graves put up the fastest time in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) in the prelims with a time of 55.51 seconds.

The lone points of the day for the Malone University track & field team came from the women's distance medley relay squad. Senior
Jenna Cassidy, freshman
SaRae Johnson, junior
Rachel Whetstone and senior
Kristin Yeager were seventh in the event finals with a time of 12:35.84.
