AKRON, Ohio & ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Malone University track & field team set new records in four different events on Friday as the team was in split squad action at the Akron Invitational and Mount Union Raider Tune-Up on Friday evening.

The men's 4x400-meter relay record went down at Akron by the team of
Phil Stupka,
Bryant Thompson,
Eric Dehmer and
Tyler Twining. The group had a race-winning time of 3:18.54. Stupka was also able to tie the school record mark in the 200-meter dash at 21.59 seconds (third).

Allea Graves set two new personal best times and now holds two outright school records in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Graves was third in both events at Akron with times of 7.72 seconds and 24.93 seconds.

Graves anchored the 4x400-meter relay team also consisting of
Amber Morris,
Abigail Blaz and
SaRae Johnson that was victorious in the event finals (4:07.52). Another event win for Malone came from
Hayden Schmidt in the 3000-meter run. His race-winning time of 8:39.27 was just ahead of second-place
Yahya Jawadi (8:42.99) in a 1-2 Pioneer finish. Â

Other highlights from Akron included Twining's second-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:55.38),
Xander Heil's third-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:55.72) and
Otani Ekpe's fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.36 seconds).

Field athletes competed at Mount Union on Friday, with four student-athletes achieving top-five finishes.
Isabelle Perry was runner-up in the shot put with a best score of 11.21 meters (36' 9.50").
Obed West was second-place in the weight throw at 14.08 meters (46' 2.50"). Finally,
Aidan Mastaso (14.35 meters / 47' 1.00") and
Brandon Gross (5.57 meters / 18' 3.25") were third in the shot put and fifth in the long jump.

Up next, Malone competes at the 2026 Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championship at Ashland University. Events begin on February 27.
