02/14/26

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Malone University men's indoor track & field team won their first NCCAA title since 1999 and first NCCAA National Championship in program history on Saturday. The Pioneers had previously won the NCCAA Invitational event 27 years ago, but now have returned to the mountaintop and scored their first official men's indoor track & field championship. The Malone women's team was third overall.

As a result of the team's success, Zach Fresenko and his staff have been declared the Coaching Staff of the Year by the NCCAA for men's indoor track & field. It is the fifth Coach of the Year distinction to Fresenko in his young career.

The Pioneers were led by Wheeler Award winner and NCCAA Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet Phil Stupka. On Saturday, Stupka set a new personal-best and school record mark of 6.82 seconds in the 60-meter dash and ran a 22.00-second time in the 200-meter dash.
