ERIE, Pa. - The Malone University swimming & diving programs competed in a double duel meet against Gannon University and Oberlin College on Saturday, but were defeated in both. The Malone men dropped meets to Gannon 229-43 and to Oberlin 227-69. The Pioneer women were defeated by the host Knights 211-59 and lost to the Yeowomen 153-119.

The highlights for the men's team included team-best fourth-place finishes by
Landon Sutter and
Carson Letchworth. Sutter had a time of 57.48 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke event and Letchworth was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.65.

In individual swims on the women's side,
Ann-Katherine Burns and
Ashtyn Rickel had a pair of top-three finishes. Burns was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.46) and third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.82). Rickel had the same results of second and third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.44) and 200-yard backstroke (2:18.80).

Elizabeth Lane was third overall in the 50-yard freestyle event (25.40 seconds).
Lauryn Ebersole was able to etch her name into a new top-ten list with a time of 59.88 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, good for ninth in program history (fifth in the event).

Allea Graves hit the diving board for Malone and was the top placeholder in both the 1-meter dive (182.85) and 3-meter dive (170.15) events. Graves set a new personal best score in the 1-meter event and improved upon her fifth-best mark in program history.

The Pioneers received two top-three scores in relay races. The team of Ebersole,
Danielle Ketler, Rickel and Lane were runners-up in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:50.46. A mark of 4:20.84 was good for third overall in the 400-yard medley relay consisting of Rickel, Burns, Ebersole and Lane.

Malone will celebrate its senior class on Saturday, January 24 prior to the start of a double duel versus Fairmont State University and Hillsdale College. The program will begin at 12:00 P.M. with a raceday start of 1:00 P.M.
