CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The Malone University women's golf team began the 2025-26 season strong with a round that broke into the record book for the program. The Pioneers are tied for sixth as a team through 18-of-36 holes at the University of Charleston Invitational, however their team score of 312 is the fifth best in program history and the lowest team score since 2019.

Maria Warner tied her career-low with a round of 75 and finished the first round inside the top-ten in seventh. She had three birdies on the back nine en route to a 1-over 38. Behind Warner on the leaderboard is sophomore
Addison Burris at 78 (tied for 26th). Burris had two birdies, both on par-4's.

Kaylyn Henson had two birdies on her scorecard and turned in a 79 on Monday. Senior
Erin Strouse struggled a bit early in her day, but had some positives with two birdies and an 80. Sophomore
Claire Hostetler carded an 87 with birdies on holes 15 and 18.

The second and final round at Edgewood Country Club tees off at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 9 with the hosts of Charleston in front with a 296 in the first round.
