CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky - The Malone University women's soccer team lost on the road to the Thomas More University Saints, 1-0 on Thursday. The Pioneers are now 1-2-1 on the year and start the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) slate at 0-1-0. The Saints move to 2-3-0 and 1-0-0 in league action.
 
The first half was a close one as the Pioneers had two shots on goal while the Saints had one shot. Both teams finished the first half with one corner kick each, and both goalies had one save each.
 
The Saints came out early with a shot in the 19th minute, but the Pioneers' goalkeeper, Amelia Henderhan, was there to make the save. Hannah Hubbard had a chance to get the Pioneers in the 36th minute with a great low shot, but her shot was saved by the Saints' goalkeeper.
 
In the second half, Thomas More came out scoring in the 56th minute. From there, the Saints were on a roll, totaling five shots taken in the second half, while holding the Pioneers to only two shots.
 
Malone had a fighting chance to tie the game with a shot by Claire Charnock during the 65th minute and by Raegan Radel in the 84th minute.
 
Despite one goal getting by, Henderhan (1-2-1) had a night, recording five saves on the night for the Pioneers.
 
Malone is set to host the Tiffin University Dragons on September 20 for their second conference match of the year. Kick-off is at 1:00 P.M.
