CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Malone University men's soccer team lost its fourth straight match on the road to the Thomas More University Saints, 2-0 on Thursday night. The Pioneers are now 0-4-0 on the year and start Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play at 0-1-0. The Saints move on to 2-2-0 and to 1-0-0 in the conference.
During the first half,
Dylan DiPiero had a chance to score in the 20th minute, but his shot was blocked. Thomas More scored early in the 24th minute of the match and found the back of the net again later in the 41st minute. Malone finished at the half with three shots on the goal, while the Saints finished with nine shots.
In the second half, both teams were unable to find the back of the net. The Pioneers had a chance to get on the board with shots by DiPiero and
Tiago Palhetas in the 61st minute, but they were saved by the Saints' goalkeeper.
Malone finished the second half with four shots recorded, while Thomas More finished with seven shots in the second half. Pioneers' goalkeeper
Sam Cipriano (0-4-0) finished the night with two saves.
The Pioneers look to regroup as they take on the Tiffin University Dragons at home on September 20 for their second conference match. Kick-off time 4:00 P.M.
