ASHLAND, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships concluded on Friday afternoon with the Malone University track & field teams placing ninth on the men's side and eighth on the women's side. Ashland University swept the team standings as the event hosts.
The highlight of the day for the Pioneers was another school record for
Allea Graves in the 400-meter finals. Graves had a time of 55.62 to set her second school record mark of the conference championship meet. She also placed third overall, the best finish of the week for Malone.
Hayden Schmidt was an individual scorer in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:56.54. That finish was good enough for seventh.
Chase Balko was also in the event finals, but did not score with a 12th-place time of 4:15.10. The final individual scorer for the Pioneers on the day was
Me'zel Square-Ward in the triple jump at 13.35 meters (43' 9.75"), good for eighth overall. Malone just missed points from the 5000-meter run.
Rylee Yocum was 12th with a time of 18:19.48 and
Yahya Jawadi 13th at 15:10.50.
A pair of relay teams on the women's side resulted in points for the Pioneers.
Amber Morris, Graves,
Abigail Blaz and
Macey Hicks were fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 48.75 seconds. The team of
Brooklyn McIntyre,
Rebekah Stoneman,
Cara Pipitone and Graves finished the 4x400-meter relay in seventh with a time of 4:01.27.
Malone will take part in the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Columbia International University on May 7-9 for the final team event of the year.
