Allea Graves Sets New School Record on Day Two of G-MAC Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio – On day two of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Pioneers took part in preliminary track events as well as event finals in several field events.
 
The Malone University track & field team is eighth on the men's side and ninth on the women's side through eight scored events. The University of Findlay has a 20-point lead on the men's side and Hillsdale College is atop the standings for the women.
 
The Pioneers had a pair of scoring members in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Jenna Cassidy tied for the best finish of the day for Malone in fourth with a time of 11:15.82 in the event. That mark is good for ninth in program history. Yahya Jawadi was also a point-scorer in sixth (9:27.21).
 
Chase Balko had the other fourth-place finish for the Pioneers in the 1500-meter prelims. Balko had a time of 3:58.86 and Hayden Schmidt made the event finals as well at 3:59.42 (tenth). The other points on the men's side came from an eighth-place finish by Gavin Tribelo in the shot put. Tribelo had a best throw of 15.23 meters (49' 11.75").
 
Allea Graves had a pair of outstanding performances in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. She reached the event finals in the 400-meter race with a time of 55.86 seconds, a mark good for second in program history. Despite missing the event finals by one spot in the 200-meter dash, Graves set a new school record in the event with a time of 24.75 seconds.
 
Another new entry into the program's top ten list came from Brylan Holland in the 800-meter prelims. Holland ran a 1:53.10 to place 12th overall, but he is now tied for sixth in outdoor track & field history at Malone.
 
The G-MAC Championships conclude on Friday, May 2. Events begin at 11:30 A.M.
