HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Malone University volleyball team was defeated by Hillsdale College in straight sets on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers slip to 6-19 overall and 5-9 inside the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The Chargers are now 12-10 and 10-3.

The Hillsdale defense kept Malone to a .093 hitting percentage for the match while going .286 themselves. The Chargers had a 9-1 advantage in aces and 45-21 difference in kills. The Pioneers had more blocks (7-5) and digs (35-33).

Hillsdale took set one 25-15 thanks to a 7-0 scoring run mid-period. A pair of kills by
Jaymes Gilbert was not enough to turn the tide. Set two featured a match-high nine kills from Malone, but it was unfortunately the best hitting set for the Chargers as well in a 25-14 loss. Hillsdale threw down 17 kills in a 25-13 victory to secure the sweep in set three.

Helaina Edgar distributed 17 assists, most of which to Gilbert with a team-high nine kills. Gilbert also led with nine digs.
Hailey Conrad and
Madalyn Coblentz had five digs apiece and Conrad was a part of a team-high four blocks.

The final weekend of the regular season begins with a match on Friday, November 14 at Cedarville University.
